It was a very Jalop Saturday... I spent the morning freshening the brakes on the ACR and swapping on the summer rubber.

Kinja'd!!!

I ditched the OEM brake pads/rotors for Hawk HPS pads and Quiet Slot Rotors. After bedding in the pads, the brake actuation is very nice. We'll see how well they perform after a few rain cycles and how well they wear in the long run.

Then it was time for a little G-Force orgy on the VFR...

Holy _cow_ there were a ton of motorcycles out today, not to mention some great cars... No SR20, of course, because I was riding w/o my video camera. Here is a list of things I saw today:

Red F-Body FireBird with WELD 5-spoke wheels and a massive loping idle and glasspacks. This guy had M/T slicks on and skinny tires up front. Like this:

Then I spied a white convertible 240SX hustlin' along the back roads in PA, like this:

As I turned back on to the main road to head home, a beatiful E-type JAAAAG run up behind me... OMG, it was so beautiful. I wanted to wave the guy down so I could have a closer look, but I didn't want to be that annoying dork that waved a guy down that was just trying to get home and didn't have time for a stop-n-chat. I really wanted to snap some pics of that thing. It was gorgeous - just like this one:

Sigh, thought about putting the "summer" tires back on the Camry today, but its still too damn cold out.

The thoughts of summer tires aren't even close yet in these parts. Give it a month or so, until the snow stops.

I never knew there was a 2nd gen Neon ACR! That's awesome.

Yeah - there was a small run of 2002 ACR's with inverted dynamic suspension dampers which were pretty trick, but had high hysteresis due to the large slider seals.

My ACR is one of the limited run of SRT-4 ACR's done in 2005. I really should move on to a more 'mature' car, but the truth is that the SRT-4 ACR just plain works. Sure, the interior was designed in 1997, but the seats, powertrain, suspension, and the rest of the chassis work REAL well. There are very few new cars that come close to tempting me... Plus, I had a hand in the SRT-4's birth, so it holds a special place in my automotive heart.

We hit 67 today and the snow is mostly gone... EVERYONE was out and about.

They are threatening us with a snowstorm on Tuesday. I have alternative means of transport, so I made the swap today... There are more warm days on the horizon than cold ones at this point... ;-)

The ACR life is a wonderful one. So much more deserving of praise for all of the badmouthing they get. Here's mine from when I owned it, it was my first car. I would still have it now, had my parents not (reasonably) deemed it unfit for a kid to be driving and that I had to sell it. Here's some very bad pictures, the rest are on the other computer.
